Stalin slams Rajini after superstar's meeting with Karunanidhi

DMK working president M K Stalin has said that Tamil Nadu was the cradle of the dravidian movement, where there was no place for spiritual politics as enunciated by superstar Rajinikanth.

Days after announcing his political entry, Rajini on Wednesday night called on DMK leader M Karunanidhi at his Gopalapuram residence.

Speaking to reporters later, he said that he had called on the veteran politician to greet him for the New Year and seek his blessings for his political foray.

However, after the actor left the venue, DMK working president M K Stalin told media persons that Rajinikanth had initially sought appointment to inquire about Karunanidhi’s health and only through them (journalists) he had come to know that he had sought Karunanidhi’s blessings for his entry into politics.

Stalin termed the meeting between his father and the actor as nothing surprising. Stalin said the actor wanted to meet Karunanidhi and as per the tradition of this land his request was accepted.

Recalling that DMDK leader Vijayakanth also sought the blessingsof Karunanidhi when he floated his party, he said any support for Rajinikanth's party would be decided at the time of elections.

Stalin further said that any attempt to upend Dravidian politics will only end in failure.
