One day Training Program on Organic Farming in Anna University

As Agriculture is the backbone of our country’s economy & the conditions are leading to exodus of youth from villages not involving themselves in the farming, it is imminent that our young students are to be encouraged to undertake the farming with a special focus. In this regard Society of Agricultural & Irrigation Engineering [SAIE], Centre for Water Resources [CWR] supported by Centre for Entrepreneurship Development [CED] of Anna University has taken up a socially relevant entity of “Creating Student Entrepreneurs through Organic Farming”. The students of Anna University main campus are carrying out Organic Farming in 1.5 acre of land allotted within the campus.

Consequently, the one-day Training Program on “ORGANIC FARMINTG” is organized as part of KRISHI-2018, an intra collegiate program of Society of Agricultural and irrigation Engg students of Anna University. The Program focuses mainly on reaching out to the students and urban community to understand the difficulties faced by our farmers and to really make a difference in the field of agriculture.



Lectures and Live Demonstration



The world now understands the real meaning of Organic Farming explained by Mr.Jagan, Nallakeerai. The new concept on “Intellectual Farming” was briefed by Mr.Bhupesh Nagarajan, Chairman, Indira Group of Companies. Money is a matter for all and so in Agriculture. The solutions for problems in Marketing & promoting Agricultural products was detailed by Dr.Dakshayani, Green Signal Biopharma. Is it possible to do Agriculture in Urban areas? Yes, the answer is Roof-Top Gardening and the experience is shared by Ms. Archana Stalin, My Harvest. Everyone can be a Boss. Entrepreneural oppurtunities in Agricultural sector was defined by Ms.Jaishree Krishnan, D’Organica. Er.P.Ravichandran, Senior Engineer of TN Agri Engg Dept explained the Entrepreneurial opportunities in Organic Farming. Field Demonstrations are to be made to educate th participants in creating organic fertilizers and pesticides including vermicomposite.



Indira Agrotech & Uzhave Thalai Foundation will be supporting CED in implementing the Model Farm in 1.5 acres. They have come forward to create awareness on organic agricultural practices, to create and practice intellectual farming techniques by joining hands with Anna University.
