AIADMK turns down TTV Dhinakaran's patch-up offer

AIADMK on Wednesday rejected rival leader T T V Dhinakaran's offer for a deal to merge his faction with the mainstream party, saying it would not happen.

Speaking to reporters here, fisheries minister and senior party leader D Jayakumar said, " Dhinakaran is smiling outside and crying inside. No one is with him. He is good at making false claims ('vaayila vadai suduvar')."

Speaking to reporters at Kathiramangalam in Thanjavur district during his ongoing tour to reach out to people, Dhinakaran had said he was not interested in becoming chief minister and came up instead with two conditions for a merger.

"Elections can be avoided in Tamil Nadu only if there is a change of guard. Six ministers should be dropped from the cabinet,” Dhinakaran said.

However, he did not name the ministers that should be dropped while also confirming that he did not wish to become the Chief Minister himself.

"I am ready to merge if my conditions are met. The ruling faction should drops six ministers from the cabinet and one of the 18 disqualified MLAs should be made the chief minister," he added.
