Varalakshmi Sarathkumar has started shooting for Dhanush’s Maari 2, a sequel to Maari, which too is being helmed by Balaji Mohan.

Maari-2 also has Sai Pallavi playing the romantic interest of Dhanush. Popular Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas plays the baddie and the film has Kreshna and Robo Shankar playing pivotal characters.
Recently, there were reports that Varalakshmi plays the main antagonist in this film, but the actor has denied it now.
Stating that she never mentioned anywhere that her role in Maari 2 had shades of grey, Varalakshmi said that she would be seen in a powerful role with good scope for performance. The actress has confirmed that she has joined the sets of the film.
“I never told anyone that I am playing a grey character. It’s a powerful role and that’s it.” After playing a slightly grey-shaded character in last year’s suspense drama Sathya, Tamil remake of Telugu film Kshanam, Varalaxmi will be seen in a full-length negative character in Vishal’s Sandakozhi 2.
