Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. received an outstanding response from the audience when it released in 2010.
Now, after eight years, the film is heading towards a sequel. However, Simbu will be replaced in the second part by Madhavan.
In a recent interview, Gautham said that the story will take place eight years after where the first part ended. If reports are to go by, VTV 2 is about Karthik and his three friends from Bangalore, Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram.
Madhavan will reprise the role played by Simbu, and as of now, Puneet Rajkumar and Tovino Thomas are confirmed to be part of the cast, with AR Rahman on music.
Madhavan himself too has confirmed the news on Twitter when he was asked about it. The film will bring together Madhavan and Gautham after Minnalae.
At present, Gautham is wrapping up Dhruva Natchathiram with Vikram. Touted to be an action-thriller, the film is likely to release later this year.
