DMK has decided to convene an “all-party meeting” on the Cauvery issue which actor Kamal Hassan, who will launch his party next week, has agreed to attend, party working president M K Stalin said.
“As an opposition party, we have decided to convene an all party meeting and will be inviting AIADMK which is the ruling party… we will also invite BJP,” he said, after Kamal met DMK president M Karunanidhi.
Stalin reached the Gopalapuram residence prior to Kamal’s arrival. Stalin greeted Kamal with a friendly smile. After his meeting with Karunanidhi, Kamal said an alliance would be considered with the DMK after the “party (DMK) leadership hears my political ideology.”
Stalin welcomed Kamal into politics, and said he had already invited the 63-year old actor for what could be the actor’s first involvement in a meeting of political parties.
Urging the ruling AIADMK to call an all-party meet to discuss the Cauvery water sharing issue, Stalin said, “If the AIADMK does not respond to my demand by Monday, I will call for an all-party meet as the leader of the opposition. I will invite all parties, including the AIADMK and the BJP. Kamal has promised to attend it.”
