Modi winds up TN, Pondy visit; EPS presents memorandum

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left for Surat, after completing his two-day visit of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.



Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami submitted a memorandum to Modi on Sunday on the state's development projects. He submitted it while seeing off the Prime Minister at the airport this evening.



Earlier, the CM appealed to Modi to set up the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) and Cauvery Water Regulatory Committee (CWRC) as directed by the Supreme Court in its February 16 order on the Cauvery issue involving Karnataka.



Palaniswami made the request to Modi while delivering the key-note address at the launch of the Amma two-wheeler scheme held in Chennai.



Modi on Saturday launched the 'Amma Two Wheeler' subsidy scheme for working women on the occasion of the 70th birth anniversary of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.



Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Palaniswami Ministers, MPs and MLAs were present at the launch event held at Kalaivanar Arangam in the city.



Modi also launched a massive tree planting programme under which 70 lakh saplings would be planted across the state.
