Woman who faced acid attack from employer dies

A woman lab-assistant in the city, who sustained 46 per cent burns after her employer flung a flammable liquid on her and set her ablaze, died today.



According to sources, she succumbed to severe burns injuries at Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital this morning here. A resident of Madipakkam, Yamuna, wife of Anand, worked in the laboratory meant to test blood samples located at the same area.



Yamuna (24), suffered burns on her face and in other parts of the body. The testing lab owner was arrested already.



On Sunday night the people in the locality saw Yamuna running out of the lab, shouting with pain, with her body covered in burn marks.



It may be recalled that brely 48 hours after the attack on Yamuna, a 48-year-old man on Tuesday night attacked a woman with cleaning acid after she turned down his advances in her house in Kanathur near Neelankarai.



Riziya was separated from her husband three years ago and worked at a nearby textile shop and was living with her son, while the accused worked as a guard near the store and used to harass her regularly, the police said.
