I-T raids at Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan group, documents found

Sleuths of the Income Tax (IT) Department conducted raids in over 30 premises belonging to the Perambalur-headquartered Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Group of Institutions (DLS) across the state over alleged tax evasion.



The residences of the group founder, A. Srinivasan, and his family members in Perambalur and Tiruchi were also searched.



The day-long operation commenced early on Thursday with the department officials splitting into different teams and conducting checks at various places.



Officials were conducting searches at a medical college owned by Srinivasan near Siruvachur in Perambalur and the houses of Srinivasan’s family members and relatives.



According to sources, a team of IT officials left for the the operation at 2 am, reaching various campuses in Tamilnadu by 4 am. The raids began simultaneously at 7 am, including the Dhanalakshmi engineering college campus in Mahabalipuram.



The raids went on till late in the evening. IT officials, however, refused to divulge any details of the operation. Sources said some documents were found and they were being scrutinised.
