Kamal Haasan has claimed that about one lakh people attended the launch of his political party, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), in Madurai last week.
“We express our gratitude to all the participants who exhibited exemplary energy and discipline. At the outset, we dedicate the success of the launch to the people of Madurai. We also thanks the office-bearers, secretaries and members of Narpani Iyakkam," he said.
He also thanked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, MLA Somnath Bharti and Farmers Association President PR Pandian.
He also released the list of members who will comprise the empowered committee that will shape and execute the policies of his newly-launched political party, Makkal Needhi Maiam.
The list includes agriculturist-advocate Arunachalam A, writer-director C Rajashekaran, professor-writer-speaker KU Gnanasambandhan, actress-producer-director Sripriya Rajkumar, among others.
Meanwhile, he demanded the Tamil Nadu government to ensure the safety of youth and children in the state. He was referring to the death of a medico from Tamil Nadu in Chandigarh and the rape of a minor Dalit girl in Villupuram district.
