Sridevi death mourned by TN politicians too

Not just the film personalities, but politicians in Tamil Nadu too expressed deep condolences over the death of Sridevi.

Governor Banwarilal Purohit said, "the demise of the noted actor Sri Devi fills me with sadness and shock. She was a versatile professional who displayed a rare sense of talent and genius on the silver screen."

He said she was a daughter of Tamil Nadu and pointed out that she had acted in over 200 films and won extraordinary praise and laurels.

"I convey my deep condolences to the bereaved members of her family and pray to God to rest her soul in peace," he added.

CM Edappadi K Palaniswami, in a statement, expressed grief over her death and said Sridevi was a versatile actor, who started her film career as a child artiste and later
as top heroine in Tamil movies, before acting in Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and other languages.

Winner of several awards, including the Padma Shri and Filmfare awards, Sridevi, has carved a niche for herself in the film industry for the past 50 years and her death
was not only a major loss to the Tamil cinema, but also to Indian cinema, he added.

In a tweet, deputy CM O Panneerselvam said, "My Heartfelt Condolences to the untimely and unfortunate demise of the veteran, versatile and vibrant actress @SrideviBKapoor. Her impeccable life and illustrious career has impressed every one surpassing generations! May her soul rest in peace."\

DMDK president Vijayakanth said, "Sridevi, right from the childhood has acted in several roles and has found a place
in the hearts of lakhs of her fans'', he said and described her death as an big and irreparable loss to the film industry."

Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan said Sridevi's sudden death was an irreparable loss to the film industry and to the world of art.

Sridevi, who had carved a niche for herself in the Tamil film industry through films like 16 Vayathiniley and Moondram Pirai, also held sway in Bollywood as the top
actor for several years, he added.
