Kolathur gold heist: Bizmen held in Chennai, Bengaluru

The special police team formed to crack the Kolathur gold heist case arrested pawnbroker Ramlal in Bengaluru and brought him to Chennai on Sunday.



Already, the special team which took Kolathur gold heist suspects Nathuram Jat and Dinesh Chowdhury into custody recovered 1.5kg gold from a pawnbroker on NSC Bose Road in the city and detained him.



The gang had drilled a hole and decamped with around 3.5kg gold from a jewellery shop in Kolathur last November.



The gang stole 3.5 kg gold from a jewellery in Kolathur. After selling 1.5 kg in Chennai, they sold the rest to the pawnbroker in Bengaluru, who has been nabbed.



Meanwhile, during interrogation, Nathuram and his aides had made a shocking confession to the police, that they were involved in 20 other burglary cases - 10 in Bengaluru and another 10 in Hyderabad.



Nathuram, picked up in Gujarat after city police inspector S Periyapandian, part of a special team sent to apprehend the burglars, was shot dead during a raid at an abandoned brick kiln at a village in Rajasthan's Pali district on December 13 last year.
