Many prominent personalities of Kollywood, including superstar Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, have expressed shock over the death of Anitha, a Dalit girl from Ariyalur who committed suicide on Friday as he was upset over not getting medical seat because of NEET.
Rajinikanth tweeted: ''what has happened to Anitha is extremely
unfortunate. My heart goes out to all the pain and agony she would have undergone before taking this drastic step. My condolences to her family."
Kamal said the girl, who lived with a medical dream, has been buried beneath the sand. ''We have lost a good medico due to NEET'', he told reporters at Thiruvananthapuram after meeting the Kerala Chief Minister.
''Those who had said that a good news will come (on NEET) have
now disaappeared'', he added.
Anitha led an unsuccessful campaign against NEET arguing in the Supreme Court that the new entrance test could not be the sole basis for admission in a medical college.
She hanged herself to death at her house at Kuzhumur village near Sendurai in Ariyalur district. She was daughter of a daily wage labourer.
