Jai Sampath was arrested for driving under the influence, as the actor reportedly rammed his Audi into the divider of the Adayar flyover in Chennai late at night on Thursday.
According to reports, Jai was returning in his Audi car along with friend and actor Premgi after partying at a star hotel.
Jai was said to be driving the car and rammed the divider on the Adyar flyover at around 2:30 AM. Jai was arrested by the police and booked under sections 185 (driving by a drunken person or by a person under the influence of drugs) of the Motor Vehicles Act and 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) of the Indian Penal Code. He was later let out on bail.
Jai along with comedy actor Premgi Amaran and a few more actors, after a party (incidentally his next film with the same group is titled Party) at a star hotel in Chennai and later while driving back his Audi Car to his residence in Indra Nagar, Jai rammed the divider on Adyar flyover.
“As he drove up the Adyar flyover, and took a turn to the road leading to Thiruvanmiyur on LB Road, he rammed his car on the sidewall. Passersby, who noticed this, alerted the Adyar traffic police who rushed to the spot and found Jai,” said an officer.
Sources said the actor was booked in 2014 after his vehicle rammed a median near Kasi Theatre. The police have recommended the cancellation of his licence.
