War of words intensify between EPS-OPS & TTV

The war of words between sidelined AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami intensified on Sunday.

The former asked the latter to resign from his post and convene a meeting of party MLAs and elect a new Legislature party leader.

Reacting sharply, both EPS and deputy CM O Panneerselvam came down heavily on him. OPS asked Dhinakaran not to mess with mountain and break his head.

Palaniswami on Sunday made clear that the Tamil Nadu government ‘is no slave’ of the Central government, but was only ‘coordinating’ with New Delhi to implement development schemes for the betterment of the state.

“Many say that we are a slave to the Central government. But we are not slaves. We are maintaining a cordial relationship with the Centre so that we can get necessary schemes and financial assistance,” he claimed.

He questioned what the DMK had done for the State to solve major issues such as Cauvery and Mullaiperiyar, when it was part of the Central government for 14 years.

He added: "The DMK demanded wealthy portfolios for the family members and obtained it and did nothing for the people."

EPS said that only because of this cordiality, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised any number of free houses to be built for the poor and assured that an industrial township would be created in Tamil Nadu.
