Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami announced on Friday that the memorial of late actor Sivaji Ganesan will be inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam on October 1.
The announcement was made after the actor's family and the film industry felt that It was an insult to the legend and his contribution to cinema to have his Rs 2.8-crore memorial inaugurated by a minister,
The DMK and the Congress joined the chorus in questioning the state over its decision to depute information and publicity minister Kadambur Raju and fisheries minister D Jayakumar to inaugurate the late actor Sivaji Ganesan's memorial in Chennai on October 1.
In his letter, Prabhu had said that he was disappointed with the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister not attending the inaugural.
"Through his movies, he has done so much for Tamil culture and the Tamil language so please sir, we feel that this kind of a small function for our father is kind of disrespecting him," the letter had said.
Following this, the CM said deputy CM Panneerselvam would inaugurate the memorial. The announcement has made Prabhu and film personalities happy and Prabhu has thanked the CM.
