Kamal Haasan has made clear his political ambitions, indicating that he is ready to serve as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
Speaking to India Today channel, he said, "Someone has to wear the Neta’s cap. It will be a crown of thorns. Someone has to clean the quagmire and make this place habitable for people. I’m not hungry for power but we will seize the opportunity if that’s the only way to deliver for the people."
Earlier on Thursday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday urged Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan to join politics and strengthen nation's fight against corruption.
"We had an excellent meeting, we exchanged our ideas. He (Kamal Haasan) should enter into politics to fight communalism and corruption," Kejriwal said after meeting Kamal Haasan.
And emerging from an hour-long meeting at his residence with the Delhi Chief Minister, a beaming Kamal Haasan said, “I am honored that Delhi CM decided to visit me. The reason why we got together, the purpose is singular, fighting against corruption and communalism. I also have the same reputation and so we decided to meet. It was a learning curve to meet him.”
Kejriwal was accompanied by senior AAP leaders Sanjay Singh, Somnath Bharti and Ashutosh to Chennai and was received at the airport by Haasan’s younger daughter Akshara.
