Shasun Jain College for Women have signed MOU with Vikatan Group

A Memorandum of Understanding has been drawn by the School of Media and Communication of Shri Shankarlal Sundarbai Shasun Jain College for Women and the Vikatan Group of Publications on 25th of September 2017. It was signed by Shri B Srinivasan, the Managing Director of the 91-year-old Vikatan Group and Shri. S Abhaya Kumar Jain, the Secretary of the College. Shri S Ashok Kumar Mehta, Associate Secretary and Dr. B Poorna, Principal felicitated the guest. Dr.P.V.Sangeetha, Head, Department of Visual Communication welcomed the gathering. Ms.M.Deepika, the Department Secretary delivered the vote of thanks.



The MoU would facilitate Industry–Academia interface and make the learning process for the students unique. The students of the School of Media will have the opportunity of listening, interacting and working with the veterans of the industry. The infrastructure and resources would be shared – thus enabling knowledge transfer.



Vikatan Group is a diversified Media house with 12 magazine titles in Tamil boasting of a combined sales of over 50 million copies annually, selling over ½ a million books every year, reaching 7.5 million monthly visitors on the web, expecting to cross 5 billion minutes on YouTube in 2017.



Shri Shankarlal Sundarbai Shasun Jain College for Women is a Self-Financed college affiliated to the University of Madras. It was established in 2005. The renowned Indian Pharma major, Shasun Pharmaceuticals came forward to fulfill the dream of their parents Late Smt. Sundarbai ji and Late Sri. Shankarlal ji (SHA-SUN) to build an educational edifice for women that would stand tall in the years to come.



The USP of the School of Media and Communication Studies is the blend of going beyond classrooms and integrating industry needs with the required academics. The infrastructure at Shasun is world class with the latest animation and editing softwares – FCP, 3DS MAX, ADOBE (Photoshop, After Effects, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Premier, In Design, Illustrator etc). The faculty is ever willing to unlearn and learn. The school has two programmes, BSc Visual Communication and MA Journalism and Communication that aims to create smart ethical media professionals who would revolutionize and redefine Journalism and communication today.



The College works towards bringing out socially conscious, ethically driven young women who will ‘Go Beyond’ in their lives and transform India.
