Rajini's remarks create tremors: AIADMK, BJP support, Tamil movements oppose

Superstar Rajinikanth today expressed strong views against protesters who assaulted policemen last evening, during the agitation against Indian Premier League cricket match in Chennai.

"The worst form of violence in law and order situation is attack on uniformed personnel on duty. This form of violence has to be tackled immediately as it poses grave danger to our country," he said in a tweet.

He added: "We need more stringent laws to punish the perpetrators of attack on police personnel on duty."

Tamilnadu Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar and BJP State unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan today supported the comments of Rajinikanth and said violence can not be accepted for any reason.

However at a press meet, Bharathiraja, Seeman and Ameer and other leaders opposed his remarks and said he was giving dubbing to someone else's voice.
