A 4,000 strong posse of policemen will be deployed for security on Tuesday for the CSK-KKR tie, amid intensified opposition to the matches to be held in Chennai with pro-Tamil outfits agitating over the Cauvery issue threatening to hold protests outside the game venue.
Protests demanding setting up of the Cauvery Management Board intensified across Tamil Nadu on Monday, with opposition DMK asking Tamils to wear black shirts and sarees during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state on Thursday.
Also, opposition to IPL matches to be held in the city intensified on Monday with a few pro-Tamil outfits agitating over Cauvery issue threatened to hold protests outside the game venue on Tuesday. A host of cinema personalities also wanted the matches to be postponed.
Following this, security was tightened after various groups flagged their protest for organising match here.
The security arrangement will be headed under Additional Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Sarangan. As per intelligence reports, hundreds of protesters are being speculated to gather near the MA Chidambaram Stadium as part of the protests.
As a precautionary measure, fans will not be given access inside the stadium by the security personnel if they are found wearing black clothes. The stadium security guards will remove any ticket holders from the stadium if they are found donning black clothing in the CSK-KKR match.
