DMK's all-party meet today to decide next course of action in Cauvery protests

DMK working president M K Stalin has said an all-party meeting will happen in Chennai today, in which a decision will be taken on the Cauvery Rights Retrieval Rally to be undertaken by him from Trichy to Chennai.

Talking to mediapersons, he said, "the bandh has turned to be a successful one thanks to the suppport from friendly parties, leaders, cadres, traders and members of the public. I sincerely thank them."

Stalin and other political party leaders who were arrested during the protest were kept at a marriage hall in Purasaiwalkam. They were released later.

Tamil Nadu Congress president S Thirunavukkarasar, VCK (Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi) chief Thirumavalavan, state secretaries of the CPI (M) and the CPI - K Balakrishnan and R Mutharasan, respectively - were among the leaders who attended the meeting organised by Stalin.

Stalin on Thursday alleged that Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit was conducting “review meetings” with officials because he had no faith in the AIADMK government led by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam.

“There is no need for him to conduct such meetings if he has faith in the government. The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister had enacted a farcical drama in the name of fasting in support of the Cauvery Management Board. Now, they have enacted a similar drama after meeting the Governor," he said.
