Cauvery: DMK plans rally, PMK calls for shutdown, TTV wants to boycott IPL

The main opposition party DMK has organised a meeting over the formation of Cauvery Management Board in Chennai on Friday.

DMK working president M K Stalin, talking to reporters after the all-party meeting, said it was decided at the all-party meet to hold the Cauvery Rights Retrieval Rally in two phases.

Meanwhile, PMK founder leader S Ramadoss on Friday appealed to political parties, farmers and traders to support the April 11Tamil Nadu bandh called by a body led by his son and MP Anbumani Ramadoss to press formation of Cauvery Management Board.

He recalled his party's support to all protests, including a shutdown held by DMK and others on Thursday over the Cauvery issue, and said said similarly his party will fully support the call for a bandh and general strike on April 11 by the Cauvery Rights Protection Federation.

"It is the duty of all Tamil people to mount huge pressure on the Centre to make it form the Cauvery Management Board which has not done that despite a Supreme Court order," he said.

In the meantime, as a mark of protest against Centre's alleged negligence for the formation of Cauvery Management Board (CMB), RK Nagar MLA and rebel AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran on Friday urged the Tamil youth to boycott Indian Premier League (IPL) matches, which are to be held in Chennai.
