Prof Nirmala case transferred to CBCID

Tamil Nadu director general of police T K Rajendran on Tuesday transferred a case registered by the Aruppukkottai police against assistant professor Nirmala Devi to the Crime Branch-Crime Investigation Department (CB-CID).




According to an official statement, secretary of Devangar Arts and Science college at Aruppukottai in Virudhunagar district, Ramasamy, had filed a complaint with the police that assistant professor Nirmala Devi lured students towards flesh trade.




Based on his complaint, a case was filed under 511 IPC and 67 of Information Technology Act by the Arupukkottai police.




"In view of the importance of the case, the DGP has directed to shift from the Aruppukottai police to the CB-CID."




Quoting police sources, reports said that although Devi had confessed to them that she had spoken to the girls, she reiterated that her intension was not to lure the girls to do sexual favours. Her message was taken in the wrong context, she told the police.
