CM Announces More Cash Awards For CWG Winners

Chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today announced more cash awards for those from the state who won medals in Commonwealth Games.



In a letter to Sathiyan, he said, "Your scintillating performance in the Table Tennis Mixed doubles event
and Men’s doubles event at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2018, being held at Gold Coast, Australia has given the Nation silver medal and Bronze medal respectively.



On behalf of the state and people of Tamil Nadu, I have great pleasure in congratulating you and all those who have
won for your victory. I am extremely delighted to know that you have won three medals in this Commonwealth Games.



As you aware, Hon’ble Puratchi Thalaivi Amma had ordered Rs.30 lakhs for the silver medal winner and Rs. 20 lakhs for the Bronze medal winner. You will now be receiving 50 lakhs high cash incentive from the Government of Tamil Nadu, apart from the Rs. 50 lakhs already announced by me.
I once again congratulate you and wish you to bring many such laurels to the country and Tamil Nadu."



In a letter to Sarath Kamal, he said, "On behalf of the Government and people of Tamil Nadu, I convey my
warmest greetings on your achievement in winning the Silver medal in Table Tennis Men’s doubles and Bronze Medal in Table Tennis Men’s Singles event at the 21 st Commonwealth Games, 2018, being held at Gold Coast, Australia.



I am very happy to know that this is your third medal in the 21 st Commonwealth Games. As an impetus to sportspersons who win medals at the Commonwealth
Games, the Hon’ble Puratchi Thalaivi Amma had enhanced the high cash incentive being awarded to Silver Medal winners to Rs.30 lakhs and Bronze Medal winners to Rs. 20 lakhs in the year 2011.



You are now eligible to receive Rs. 50 lakhs high cash incentive, apart from the Rs. 50 lakhs already
announced by me. I once again congratulate you and wish that you that continue to bring fame and name to the country and Tamil Nadu."
