Actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan today penned an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi stating the need to set up Cauvery River Water Management Board with immediate effect.
He also issued a video message. He recalled PM Modi's experience in involving the Narmada water sharing issue while he was the chief minister of Gujarat.
He challenged the prime minister to prove wrong the allegations of the connection between Karnataka elections and the delay in the constitution of the independent water management board.
He also voiced for Kerala and Puducherry to get their right fulfilled as per the Supreme Court order on Cauvery issue on April 16.
"Both Pandits and pedestrians alike suspect and believe that the delay in us getting justice is due to the elections in Karnataka and your interest in it. I want the belief to be dispelled for people, they more important than the elections. Please do justice to Tamilnadu and Karnataka and see that the Supreme Court judgment is followed."
Kamal added: "I am sure you will fulfill your duty towards the people and farners of Tamilnadu by forming Cauvery Water Management Board immediately. Kerala and Pudhucherry should also get their rightful share as per the Supreme Court and constituting of the board is utmost importance to ensure this."
