Protesters couldn't stop IPL match, CSK scores big win

While Chennai Super Kings battled it out with Kolkata Knight Riders at IPL, Tamil Nadu groups demanding setting up of the Cauvery Management Board fought with policemen and forced cricket fans to remove their jerseys.



The gentleman’s game, however, went with usual cheer and enthralled a capacity crowd. At the end, CSK posted a thrill victory against KKR.



Several groups were holding demonstrations outside the stadium to press for their demand for the early setting up of the Cauvery Water Management Board.



Four people were arrested for throwing slippers during the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M A Chidambaram stadium,



The situation was brought under control after the police held a meeting with the party leaders. By 6.30 p.m, around 780 persons courted arrest. They were kept in marriage halls and stadiums at four locations.



Tamil film directors led by Bharathiraja who represented Tamizhar Kalai Ilakkiya Panpaattu Peravai also joined the demonstration waving what they claimed was the ‘Tamil Nadu’ flag.
