TN political crisis: Governor seeks opinion from Soli Sorabjee

Tamil Nadu Ch Vidyasagar Rao has consulted former Attorney General and eminent jurist Soli Sorabjee to end political crisis over next chief minister of the state.

Sorabjee said Rao cannot delay his decision to appoint a stable government in the State indefinitely.

Sorabjee said, “Though the Governor is waiting for the apex court to pronounce its ruling, he just cannot delay it that long."

Sorabjee said the Governor can defer his decision on the Sasikala vs Panneerselvam political battle till the Supreme Court gives its verdict in a disproportionate assets case against Sasikala.

He, however, added the Governor will gave to act as per the Cabinet’s advice if the verdict is not delivered in the coming week.

Sorabjee advised Governor Rao on the current political crisis in Tamil Nadu. "Yes, the Governor sought my advice and I gave him mine. I can't discuss the content of my advice. For that you have to ask the Governor," Sorabjee said.
