Holding Sasikala responsible for the death of former chief minister Jayalalithaa, DMK working president MK Stalin on Thursday said that if the death of the former CM is probed, she will be sentenced to life imprisonment.
"If proper probe takes place into J. Jayalalithaa's death, the person, who is in jail for four years now, will be awarded lifetime imprisonment," Stalin told media.
Stalin, who with his party workers staged a hunger strike against Chief Minister Edapaddi K. Palanisamy's trust vote, said, "The hunger protest, which we are undertaking today, is not for us but against 'benami' rule established in Tamil Nadu."
Claiming that the State Government headed by Edappadi K. Palaniswami would not last its term, DMK working president on Wednesday said that his party would soon be returned to power and institute an inquiry commission to probe the “mystery” behind the death of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
Unlike the previous protests, Wednesday’s event saw the organisers earmarking a couple of boxes exclusively for students and youth.
As soon as the hunger strike began at Thennur Uzhavar Sandhai grounds, students and youth were made to sit in the area allotted to them. Close to a dozen of students and youth, including the organisers of the pro-jallikattu protest, were given an opportunity to speak about the political situation in the State.
