Yuvan Shankar Raja has successfully completed his 20 years in film industry on Monday (27.02.1997).
Speaking on the occasion, he said, "I am here sustaining because of the love of my fans and music lovers. For me it looks as if I came only yesterday.
The ups and downs during this period had not deterred me. Music is my passion and only the years of my role as a film's music director can be counted and not my stature as a basic music composer.
I am a born musician and will remain the same until last. I deeply thank them from my heart for all their support in all these years. I take this opportunity to thank all my Producers, Filmmakers, the stars, the media and the fans for imposing faith on me.
Iam grateful to my father for molding and growing me up with a sound attitude that could let me concentrate on music. My 20th year will be marked by the production of my maiden film as a producer “ Kolaiyudhir Kalam”. Talks are on to announce my next project at the earliest."
Yuvan is a singer-songwriter, film score and soundtrack composer, and occasional lyricist from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He has predominantly scored music for Tamil films.
The youngest son of noted film composer Ilaiyaraaja, he began his musical career in 1996, at age 16, when he composed the film score for Aravindhan. After initial struggle, he made his big break with the Thulluvadho Ilamai soundtrack (2001), and evolved as one of Tamil cinema's most sought-after composers by the mid-2000s.
