Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Coimbatore on February 24 to unveil the 112-feet tall face of Adiyogi at Isha Yoga Centre.
Tight security cover will be thrown in and around the city during the one-day visit, police said.
The unveiling of Adiyogi is part of the largest Mahashivaratri celebrations in the country which will be telecast live, simultaneously in seven languages through 23 satellite television channels and several online platforms.
The festivities of Mahashivaratri begin at 6 PM and conclude at 6 AM, the next morning. The nightlong celebrations include the powerful midnight meditation and discourse by Sadhguru, cultural performances by Kailash Kher, Rajasthan Roots with Kutle Khan, Sounds of Isha (Isha’s home grown, anomalous group of musicians) and dance troop Nritarutya. Maha Annadanam or the offering of food will be made for all.
“We want to place these tall faces of Adiyogi in four corners of the country. The first one is in the south, at the Isha Yoga Centre, Coimbatore. The eastern one will most likely be in Varanasi. For the north, it will be somewhere north of Delhi and the western one will be in Mumbai,” Vasudev said over email.
“Essentially, we have taken small pieces of metal and put it together. This is a very hard way to do it, but it is the most inexpensive. This is unique – it hasn’t been used elsewhere,” he said.
