Venkaiah said what happened in TN Assembly was disgraceful

Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu has termed the ruckus in Tamil Nadu Assembly during the confidence motion on Saturday as “a disgrace to democracy”.

Speaking to reporters, he said people will lose faith in the political system if legislators behave in such a manner.

"What happened in the Tamil Nadu Assembly was a disgrace to democracy. All concerned should introspect and see such things do not happen in future," said the Information and Broadcasting Minister.

He further said people look at the MPs and the MLAs as the role models, and if the people’s representatives behave like this, people will lose faith in the democratic institutions and also in the political system.

The Modi government has identified "unrecognised" and "unsung heroes" and honoured them with the prestigious Padma awards for this year, Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu said in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Speaking after felicitating Padma award winners from Telangana at Swarna Bharat Trust (SBT), Hyderabad chapter, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi selected "unsung heroes" from rural areas who are doing selfless service to the society in their respective fields and awarded them.
