DMK not to attend trust vote in TN Assembly

The main opposition DMK has announced that it would stay away from the trust vote procedure in the Tamil Nadu Assembly on Saturday.

"The DMK will not support anyone," said the party's general secretary K Anbazhagan, adding that the government led by chief minister Edappadi Palaniswami would not emerge victorious.

Allies, DMK and Congress appear to have different priorities in dealing with political flux. For the Congress, the main concern is preventing the AIADMK falling into the lap of the NDA regime and shaping the best strategy for its motley eight MLAs during the forthcoming trust vote.

Although, DMK working president M.K. Stalin greeted the new Chief Minister, he had clearly stated that the new government is unlikely to solve the problems of the state and the state of paralysis would continue.

Stalin had further stated that the new Chief Minister would be controlled by the power centre in Bangalore, in an apparent reference to AIADMK general secretary V.K. Sasikala, who had nominated Palanisami for the post.

It is to be noted that there are quite a few similarities between the current political situation and those post MGR's death.
