Tamil Nadu acting Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and the Chief Minister-aspirant, Public Works Minister Edapadi K Palanisamy, separately called on Tamil Nadu Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday night.
After the meeting with the Governor, former minister D Jayakumar said Palanisamy had the support of 125 MLAs.
"We are hoping that the Governor will call us to form the government at the earliest," he told reporters while leaving Raj Bhavan.
After they went, Panneerselvam came to Raj Bhavan and met the governor along with his suppporters.
Rao was keeping his cards close to his chest, as there was no word from the Raj Bhavan on what he intends to do.
The possibility of a composite floor test to determine who among the two — Edappadi and OPS — command a majority in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly may be ordered soon.
