Union Sports Minister, Vijay Goel, felicitated the Indian team that won the Blind T20 World Cup at Bengaluru recently, with a cash purse of Rs. 10 lakh in New Delhi.
India defeated Pakistan by nine wickets in the final to
lift the trophy at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium earlier
this month.
"The Indian squad has played exceptionally well throughout the tournament and this being their second consecutive title proves that they are invincible," Goel said.
Goel said after success of Para Athletes at Rio Paralympics 2016, Indian team for Blind Cricket has added another chapter of glory in history of Indian Sports by retaining T 20 World Cup.
He said government is committed for the promotion of sports in the country. He said his Ministry will consider granting recognition to CABI as sports federation.
Goel also said that there is no misunderstanding in the prize money given to the winning team of 2017 World Cup Cricket for the Blind and the Ministry will follow the same practice for cash prize which was adopted in 2012 when Indian Team won the 1st T20 World Cup for Blind cricket.
