The AIADMK faction led by former chief minister O Panneerselvam would stage a hunger strike on March 8, reiterating its demand for an investigation into the death of former chief minister Jayalalithaa.
They would observe a day long fast in front of all revenue district headquarters on March eight, demanding a speedy, independent, free and fair centrally-monitored probe by a sitting Supreme Court judge to unravel the the 'mystery' behind the death of Jayalaltihaa, a move which was welcomed by Opposition DMK leader M K Stalin as 'belated'.
Meanwhile, a team of AIADMK MPs backing Panneerselvam submitted a representation to President Pranab Mukherjee, calling for an investigation into Jayalalithaa’s death.
Dr V Maitreyan, Rajya Sabha Member, led the delegation and submitted the memorandum enlisting the suspicions over the circumstances under which the late Supremo of AIADMK was taken to the Apollo Hospitals on September 22 last.
“We urged the President to take steps for a high level inquiry, either by a judicial commission or by the Central Bureau of Investigation,” he told reporters.
AIADMK 'Presidium Chairman' E Madhusudhanan said the fast would be held from 0900 hrs to 1700 hrs on that day and appealed to all loyal AIADMK cadres, youth and public to participate in large numbers in demanding justice for the mystery behind Amma's death.
