The team of Superstar Rajinikanth's next film is in talks with Bollywood actress Vidya Balan to play the female lead in the movie.
"The makers of the film met Vidya Balan recently, and have finalised her as the lead. However, they are still working on the dates, and only then the official agreement would be signed," sources said.
To be produced by Dhanush, the yet-untitled film is expected to roll from May. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is wrapping up his much-awaited sci-fi thriller 2.0.
Kabali was among the most successful Indian films of 2016 in which Rajinikanth played an ageing don based in Malayasia. It was directed by Pa Ranjith, who is likely to direct the spin-off as well.
Earlier too, there were reports that Vidya Balan had been approached for Kabali, before Radhika Apte was finalised as the female lead.
Meanwhile, directed by Shankar, 2.0 starring Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson, Sudhanshu Pandey and Adil Hussain is slated to released on Deepavali.
