It was an eventful and dramatic day for the AIADMK MLAs backing Sasikala and staying at the Golden Bay Resorts at Koovathur.
Kanchipuram District Police registered a criminal case against AIADMK legislature party leader Edappadi Palanisamy and interim general secretary V.K. Sasikala for allegedly kidnapping party MLAs and detaining them at the resort.
Soon, a police team entered the resort and conducted inquiries. The police booked Sasikala and Palanisamy after Madurai (South) MLA S S Saravanan, who 'escaped' in disguise+ from Golden Bay Resorts on Monday, had lodged a complaint with the director general of police.
Acting on his complaint, the Koovathur police registered a case against Sasikala and unknown others under Sections 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 343 (wrongful confinement for three or more days), 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty) and 506(i) (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code.
On Wednesday, the police were once again back at the Golden Bay resort, this time investigating Saravanan’s complaint. However, MLAs at the resort were quick to dismiss these allegations as completely false.
Radhapuram MLA Inbadurai told the media that the police had already conducted inquiries with the MLAs at the resort.
