Governor invites Edappadi Palanisamy to form govt

Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao on Thursday morning invited AIADMK legislature party leader Edappadi K. Palanisamy to meet him, Following this, the minister called on the governor at the Raj Bhavan.

During the meeting, Rao invited Palanisamy to form government. He has been asked to prove his majority in the Assembly within fifteen days.

Palanisamy was accompanied by senior ministers. On Wednesday evening, Palanisamy had met Rao and submitted a list of legislators supporting him and requested the Governor to invite him to form the government.

Chief minister O Panneerselvam too met the governor on Wednesday night. Source said that the Governor was "more receptive" to their demands on Wednesday night when both the camps went to Raj Bhavan.

Speaking to reporters outside the Raj Bhavan, Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar said, “We informed the Governor that Palanisamy has been nominated unanimously by the party MLAs. We have confidence that he will uphold democracy. He informed us that he will consider our views.”

Palanisamy was appointed the leader of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK)’s legislature party immediately after the Supreme Court convicted Sasikala in the longstanding disproportionate assets case.
