Subramanian Swamy threatens to sue governor, BJP distances itself from Swamy

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Sunday exhorted Tamil Nadu Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao to decide by Monday on the issue of who will be the next chief minister of Tamil Nadu - whether CM O Pennerselvam or AIADMK general secretary V K Sasikala .

"If not, it is possible to file a writ petition under Article 32 of the Constitution for abetment of horse trading," tweeted Swamy.

Ever since the issue of government formation has broken out, Swamy has been favouring AIADMK General Secretary V K Sasikala to be sworn-in as Chief Minister, saying she has the numbers in her favour.

However, the BJP's state unit sought to distance itself from Swamy, saying he has taken a "different path".

BJP state unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan said, "Swamy's comments can not be taken those of the BJP. His path is not that of the party."

She said that the governor's only job is not to preside over swearing in ceremonies. "No one can force the governor," she said, adding that Rao is not delaying his decision, but taking time to take the right decision.
