Pon Radhakrishnan, Tamilisai appreciate governor

BJP state unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan has said the conviction of V K Sasikala in a disproportionate assets case is a fitting reply to those who blamed the Governor for the delay in inviting her to take over as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.

Speaking to reporters at the Coimbatore airport, she said, "Jayalalithaa was heading a corruption-free government in her initial days but friendship (with Sasikala) got her involved in corrupt practices, the result of which was this conviction."

Union minister Pon Radhakrishnan said in Chennai that the governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao is acting as per law and he is impartial. "He chose to wait. He has taken a right decision. It has been proved now," he said.

Tamilisai said that the verdict had paved the way for cleaner politics. The party wished for a corruption-free Tamil Nadu, and the verdict had saved the State from crisis.

She said graft was not an issue for those like Dravidar Kazhagam leader K Veeramani, TNCC president Thirunavaukkarasar and VCK president Thol Tirumavalavan, who blamed the Governor for the delay in inviting Sasikala to take over as chief minister and also alleged that BJP was behind it.

Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, tweeted: “Need of the hour is to enable an able and stable government in Tamil Nadu as per the wishes of the people of State.”
