DMK working president M K Stalin has reacted to the supreme court verdict convciting AIADMK general secrtary V K Sasikala in the assets case by saying that justice has been upheld after 21 years.

"The Supreme Court judgment against Jayalalithaa, V K Sasikala and V N Sudakaran and J Ilavarasi is historic. It is a lesson to all politicians to be clean in politics," he told reporters.

He added: "We urge Tamil Nadu Governor C Vidyasagar Rao to ensure a stable government is put in place at the earliest possible, given the verdict of Supreme Court."

He said that the apex court has upheld the judgement by the Bengaluru special court judge John Michael Cunha, who convicted former chief minister J Jayalalithaa, her aide Sasikala Natarajan and her relatives Ilavarasi and Sudhakaran.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld the trial court’s verdict, setting aside the acquittal by the high court.
