Dinakaran becomes AIADMK deputy general secretary

AIADMK General Secretary V K Sasikala today appointed her nephew and former MP T T V Dinakaran as the deputy general Secretary of the party--a newly created post.

In a significant move a day after her conviction in a graft case, Sasikala announced that Dinakaran, her nephew and a former Rajya Sabha member, was being appointed as the party's Deputy General Secretary and urged the cadres to extend their cooperation to him.

Sasikala today reinducted her close relatives T T V Dinkaran and S Venkatesh into the party, five years after their expulsion by J Jayalalithaa.

"Dinakaran and Venkatesh are allowed to join the party after they expressed regret for their acts in person and through letter and requested that they are allowed to join the party again," she said in a statement.

It may be recalled in December, 2011, late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had expelled Sasikala and 13 others, including her husband Natarajan and their relatives Dinakaran and her Jayalalithaa's disowned foster son V N Sudhakaran and relieved them from the AIADMK.

After Sasikala tendered an apology and said that she would not aspire for any party post or power and that she would only assist her, she was re-inducted into the Poes Garden and stood with Jayalalithaa till she breathed her last.
