Actor apologises to Nivin Pauly

With Nivin Pauly starrer Richie generating mixed reviews, Roopesh Peethambaran, who shot into fame first playing the young Mohanlal in Sphadikam, and later directed Theevram and You Too Brutus, posted a controversial tweet.



"It's pretty hard to imagine how a masterpiece turned into a piece!! Bravo for Ulidavaru Kandante," he posted. It is to be noted that Richie is a remake of Kannada hit Ulidavaru Kandante.



Following this, Nivin Pauly fans started an online attack on Roopesh, prompting the actor to post: "Nivin Pauly, tell your fans that I was praising Ulidavaru Kandante not bitching Richie."



After sometime, he tendered an apology. "I realize that impulsive reaction was a mistake which hurt a lot of people. That was never my intention. I apologise for the pain I may have caused due to this. I am sorry."



Richie is a neo noir action crime film directed by Gautham Ramachandran and written by Rakshit Shetty. A remake of the 2014 Kannada film Ulidavaru Kandanthe, the film stars Nivin Pauly in the titular role with Natarajan Subramaniam, Shraddha Srinath and Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli in the supporting roles.



It began production during June 2016. The film also marks the direct Tamil debut of Nivin Pauly.
