Parvathy of Poo and Mariyan fame has complained to the police about the vicious abuse, threats of rape and acid attacks she had been receiving on social media after speaking her mind about the anti-women dialogues of a film.
he Ernakulam South Police on Wednesday arrested a 23-year old man identified as Printo, son of Lonappan, belonging to Vadakkencherry in Thrissur district for cyberbullying on a complaint of Parvathy.
The police arrested him from his residence. He was charged under Section 67 of the IT Act.
Parvathy called out some dialogues in the Mammootty-starrer 2016 Malayalam movie, Kasaba to be derogatory to women, and "most saddening".
"It (the abuse) couldn't get worse. A lot of people were pulling me down, threatening and abusing me," she said.
Mammootty has not made any comments on the issue yet though there have been voices expressing surprise about his silence.
