Inspector murder: Spl police team rushes to Raj to nab robbers

A police inspector from Chennai, who was investigating a recent gold heist in Tamil Nadu, was shot dead by a suspected robber in Rajasthan om Wednesday.



He was chasing the gang involved in the robbery when he was shot at with his own service revolver in the state's Pali district.



Following the incident, a special Tamil Nadu police team has rushed to that state to nab the robbers.



Nathuram from Pali district in Rajasthan and his associate Choudhary from Jodhpur were allegedly involved in the burglary at a pawn shop in Kolathur. They had drilled a hole on the ceiling and looted the valuables.



Following this, a special team was formed and they went to Rajasthan to nab the suspects. On Wednesday morning, the team went to a godown in Rampura Kalan village within Jaithran police station limits in Bali district, where the incident happened.



Chennai city police commissioner A K Viswanathan asked joint commissioner of police (West Chennai) Santhosh Kumar to visit Rajasthan to pursue the issue further.



Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday announced financial relief of Rs 1 crore to the family of Periapandian, who was shot dead by burglary suspects in Rajasthan.
