While Nayanthara is the heroine, there are Fahadh Faasil, Prakashraj and Sneha in key roles. The movie is directed by Mohan Raja of Thani Oruvan fame.

Speaking to reporters, the director said, “We have an ensemble of actors in Velaikkaran but all of them will be seen in crucial roles, we haven’t used anyone for namesake."
Recently, Sivakarthikeyan said he generally doesn’t go to other people’s house and not many invite him too. “Fahadh and I’ve become good friends now. Recently after our press meet in Kochi I visited Fahadh’s house and had a sumptuous dinner."
