Pulimurugan in Oscar race; Indywood creates new milestone

Kochi (21-12- 2017): Kochi-based Indywood Film Carnival is the talk of the town again when
Pulimurugan, the first Malayalam movie which crossed the Rs 150 crore club, roaring with an Oscar
entry in original score and original song categories.




All Lights India International Film Festival (ALIIFF), one of the prominent departments under
Indywood, has played a crucial role in fetching this Oscar nomination for the Mohanlal starrer
Pulimurugan bankrolled by Tomichan Mulakuppadam.




The USD 10 billion Project Indywood, spearheaded by Hollywood Director Sohan Roy, is an attempt
to redefine Indian Film Industry through innovative ventures in entertainment sector.




"It is a priceless moment for Indians and a milestone for team Indywood, which was instrumental in
helping Pulimurugan to achieve this global recognition. The movie has elevated the pride of Indian
Film Industry by grabbing an Oscar long list nomination. Besides, the movie has widened global
market of Malayalam Film Industry. We are willing to market good movies internationally through
Indywood," revealed Sohan Roy, Indywood Founder Director.




Two songs, ‘Kaadanayum Kaalchilambe’ and ‘Maanathe Maarikurumbe’ from Pulimurugan,
composed by Gopi Sundar, are part of the original score list.




"Our entry has boosted the confidence of many renowned production houses to conceive and
implement big budget movies which appeal for international audience; from content to production
and from distribution to projection. We are happy that our efforts are reaping benefits gradually.
Cinema lovers should come forward to support Indywood," added Sohan Roy who is also the
Chairman and CEO of UAE-based Aries Group.




Pulimurugan directed by Vysakh and scripted by Udaykrishna is the only Indian film to score a
place in the list of 70 songs eligible for a nomination in the 'Original Songs' category for the 2018
Oscars.
