Ace producer Gnanavel Raja lost the Chennai Kanchipuram Thiruvallur District Film Distributors Association election. Arulpathi, the sitting chief, retained the post.
But it seems the Namma Ani led by the Studio Green boss is unfazed. Already, Gnanavel Raja had announced that they would contest in Madurai distributors polls.
Explaining why he decided to contest, Gnanavel Raja said, "I have produced about 18 films and distributed more than 28 movies in Tamil Nadu. So, I have undergone the pains as a producer as well as a distributor. I felt that as of now the distributors association is functioning not for the welfare of its members, but for the benefit of a few. I want to get rid of those selfish people and want to make it a place where a fair trade takes place."
It may be recalled that the two factions — one headed by Arulpathi, who has been the president of the association for several terms, and Gnanavel Raja, who stepped down from his secretary post in TFPC to compete here, were involved in accusations against each other.
Arulpathi’s team was called ‘Jananayaga Murpokku Ani’ where Srinivasulu stood for vice president post and Jayakumar was contesting for secretary post.
Gnanavel Raja’s ‘Namma Ani’ comprised him running for president, K Rajan for vice president and Siddique for treasurer and many others for EC members.
