TN Assembly session starts, DMK plans no-confidence motion
Sparks are expected to fly as the first session of the Tamil Nadu Assembly beginning here today with Governor Banwarilal Purohit's customary New Year address to the
House.
The session is expected to be a stormy one, with the Opposition all set to raise a host of issues.
The short session — most likely to last a week — will begin Monday morning with the customary address by Governor Banwarilal Purohit in which he is expected to give a sneak preview of the EPS-OPS Government’s priorities for the year 2018 and its “achievements” in the year gone by and will also herald T.T.V. Dhinakaran’s maiden entry into the Assembly.
The session is likely to be a stormy one with the Opposition DMK set to raise the issue of the ongoing strike by transport employees, the extensive damage caused by Cyclone Ockhi that ravaged Kanyakumari district, review meetings by Purohit in districts and the proposed National Medical Commission Bill by the Centre.
DMK working president M K Stalin on Sunday said his party would bring in a no-confidence motion against the Edappadi K. Palaniswami government in the Assembly session beginning Monday if an opportunity arises.
