The strike by transport workers of trade union affiliated to opposition parties entered fifth day today.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami has asserted that he has briefed DMK working president M K Stalin about the steps taken by the government to end the transport workers strike.
He said the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has released an one-sided statement on Stalin's telephonic conversation with him over the bus strike issue.
Blaming Stalin of selectively blocking contents of the telephonic conversation the two leaders had, Palaniswami said he had explained to Stalin of the steps taken by the government to end the bus strike.
"I informed him that the revised wages — minimum of Rs 2,684 and maximum of Rs 11,361 — offered by the government was higher than the earlier wage revisions," Palaniswami said in a statement.
Stalin, however, said his primary demand was that Palaniswami should personally hold talks with the trade unions to end the strike.
This would be the first session of the Assembly after the
Governor assumed office and the first after the disqualification of 18 'rebel' MLAs for supporting sidelined leader Dhinakaran, who later won his maiden election to the State Assembly from the RK Nagar seat held by former chief minister J Jayalalithaa twice in 2015 and 2016.
